Depending on your needs, this may be a complimentary estimate for a qualifying treatment project, a Targeted Evaluation, or an official NC WDIR-100 inspection for a real estate transaction. Many of our Protection Programs are designed around annual inspection and maintenance, allowing us to monitor your property, address new activity, and help maintain long-term protection. Exterior wood treatments for carpenter bees are typically performed on a seasonal basis, while termite protection programs are maintained through annual monitoring and service.
Some treatments can provide long-lasting protection. For example, borate treatments applied to protected, unfinished wood may remain effective for many years. Other treatments, such as targeted carpenter ant services, are intended to resolve a specific problem rather than provide ongoing protection and may include a shorter warranty period. At the completion of your service, you’ll receive documentation describing your treatment, any applicable warranty, and, when applicable, a Certificate of Protection outlining your coverage and renewal information.
Yes. Many of our services include a limited treatment warranty designed to provide added peace of mind. Warranty terms vary depending on the type of service, treatment method, and whether the service is a one-time treatment or an ongoing Protection Program. Many of our warranties are also transferable, making the a valuable benefit for homeowners and during future real estate transactions. Our Protection Programs are designed to be active, not “set it and forget it”. We stay in touch with our clients through scheduled reminders and opportunities for annual inspections and service to help maintain protection over time. At the completion of your service, you’ll receive a treatment summary, any applicable warranty documentation, and when applicable a Certificate of Protection outlining your coverage, renewal information, and warranty terms. If covered activity is identified during the warranty period and all program requirements have been met, any applicable retreatment will be provided in accordance with the terms of your warranty.

BugTec offers Protection Programs for the major wood-destroying insect concerns found in Western North Carolina. These include Whole-Home Termite Protection, Exterior Wood Protection for wood siding/trim, fences, decks and detached buildings, Interior Wood protection for crawl spaces, basements, attics, and other unfinished wood areas. Depending on the program, protection may also address conditions that contribute to fungal decay and mold growth. Each program is tailored to the property and is designed to provide long-term peace of mind- not just a one-time treatment.
Yes. BugTec inspectors are members of good standing with the LOTSAR Board of Realtors and have ShowingTime and SupraLock access.
Once you accept your proposal, we’ll schedule your service and stay in communication throughout the process. If any preparation is required before treatment, we’ll provide clear instructions and confirm everything is ready before your appointment.
After completing the service, we will make a detailed service record documenting the work performed, and provide any applicable Certificate of Protection along with warranty information. If your service is part of an ongoing Protection Program, we’ll continue to stay in touch with reminders for future inspections, renewals, and recommended maintenance. Yes. BugTec provides the official North Carolina Wood-Destroying Insect Report (WDIR-100) required for real estate transactions. Our reports are accepted by lenders and typically include detailed findings, photos, recommendations and if needed treatment plans.

Our approach is to achieve effective, long-term protection while minimizing unnecessary exposure to people, pets, wildlife, and beneficial insects. Whenever practical, we select highly targeted treatment methods and lower-toxicity products, including borate-based wood treatments that have a long history of protecting wood with minimal environmental impact.
Every property is different, so we’ll explain any recommended precautions before treatment begins. Our goal is to use the least amount of pesticide necessary while achieving long-term protection through careful inspections, targeted applications, and ongoing maintenance – not unnecessary chemical use.
We accept all major credit and debit cards through our secure QuickBooks payment system, as well as ACH bank transfers. Payment instructions are included with your invoice.
An annual renewal is much more than a warranty renewal – it’s an opportunity to confirm that your protection remains effective. During each renewal visit, we’ll inspect the covered areas for new wood-destroying insect activity, evaluate conditions that could increase future risk, and assess any treatment systems or protected areas included in your Protection Program. Depending on the service, this may include inspecting termite bait stations, replenishing or replacing control components as needed, performing touch-up treatments, or retreating covered areas when appropriate under the terms of your program. After the inspection, we will updated the service record documenting our findings, any maintenance or treatment performed, and provide recommendations, if needed. When applicable, we’ll renew your Certificate of Protection, confirm your warranty coverage, and schedule your next annual service so your property continues to receive ongoing protection and monitoring.
We care about honeybees and other beneficial pollinators, and we design our exterior wood and carpenter bee treatments with that in mind.
Carpenter bees are pollinators themselves, so our goal is to manage structural damage by changing wood conditions for long-term protection rather than relying on broad chemical use. We prioritize reducing exposure to non-target insects, especially honeybees in nearby hives and flowering plants.
When treatment is needed, we primarily use low-impact products and apply them in a targeted way to minimize drift and overspray.
